About Megaverse

Megaverse is an interactive studio that uses digital innovation to develop bespoke immersive experiences. By merging digital innovation with theatre, film, gaming, storytelling and the visual arts, we push the creative potential of XR technologies (augmented, virtual and mixed realities).

Alongside developing AR and VR apps for clients, Megaverse are also developing a series of ‘in-house’ location based experiences. One of which, called SURGE, premiered at Sage Gateshead in June earlier this year. The piece is an immersive performance exploring climate change uitalising monolithic LED screens, motion capture and VR and featuring music by Anna Meredith, spoken word poetry by Vanessa Kisuule, and a live performance by The PappyShow.

Megaverse is led by directors Ben Carlin and John Ingle who work with an interdisciplinary team of highly skilled freelancers to create unforgettable and novel experiences by synthesising new and emerging technologies with storytelling - where the audience become active participants rather than passive spectators. The team mostly works remotely but also has a home at Kollider in Sheffield.

We are looking for a freelance marketing and publicity coordinator to support us on the promotion of a UKRI commissioned project to deliver a live action narrative game to audiences shedding light on the climate crisis, and working towards collective action from our remote community of players. The Climate Playmakers is a 6-part series hosted on Twitch featuring motion captured actors rendered as avatars in a games engine. This interactive theatre-game is an ambitious work and we’re looking for someone who is passionate about engaging under-represented communities in mutli-platform experiences.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the producer and directors in executing the marketing strategy, including  delivery and tracking of marketing  outputs such as email, event, social media, or content marketing

  • Research and build database of influencers to invite to participate in the project
  • Coordinate event, or content email marketing campaigns, including copy, scheduling, testing, and database management
  • Create, proofread, and edit copy for various marketing channels, ensuring consistent voice
  • Assist with developing and managing content and social media marketing, including blogs and public relations efforts
  • Evaluate and monitor campaign performance on an ongoing basis by analysing key metrics and reporting back to management

Required Knowledge / Skills / Experience:

  • A relevant qualification in marketing or previous experience in a dedicated marketing role
  • Must have strong organisational and project management skills, as well as attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as outstanding copywriting and proofreading skills
  • Firm grasp on various marketing platforms, channels, and best practices, including social, digital, and email marketing
  • Must be a self-starter and able to independently move projects forward, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Must have strong analytical skills to analyse metrics and create reports
  • Must have a high level of creativity
